Lively, toasty, zesty claret not too far from drinkability. Quite confident and punchy.

Jean-Marc Quarin May - 2001
Jean-Marc Quarin
Deep red colour. Good intensity. Beautiful. Brilliant. Nose of medium intensity. Fine. Fruity. Vanilla. More intense when swirled. Fine. Nuanced. Soft attack, developing on a slightly flowing body before the mid-palate, which could be tighter. The wine then opens up, caressing, juicy and refined with a density that remains in keeping with the 99, finishing on perfectly extracted, refined and aromatic tannins. It is delicious and quite sophisticated for a wine with 70% merlot, though the body remains a little light.

Mineral, spice and floral aromas, with hints of aniseed. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a fruity finish. Subtle red. Better than from barrel.
