Jane Anson - Inside Bordeaux
Intense and concentrated, incense, pot pourri, creme de cassis, violets, clear depths and expansion coupled with the light step of limestone. No need to rush this, it remains extremely young at 15 years old, and as with the 2009 it’s impressive and enjoyable, if less of the signature Gaffelière finesse at this stage of its life.

A big, bold, ripe wine with firm tannins and dark, solid fruits. The wine has acidity coming from the black currant flavors. Continuing the impressive quality of wines from La Gaffelière, it has weight and a rich feel to it, along with a tight, mineral final texture. This is a wine that is elegant as well as powerful.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Deep garnet colored, the 2010 La Gaffeliere is quite closed to begin, slowly unfurling to give scents of baked raspberries, kirsch, dried mulberries and plum pudding plus nuances of pencil shavings and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, the palate layers in the savory and earthy flavors with a firm frame of chewy tannins and well-knit freshness, finishing with an herbal lift.

Tasted blind. Deep garnet but not as dark as some. Fragrant, spicy, a touch floral and a bit bloody, too. Rather seductive. Fine, silky and with lovely freshness and tension.

Falstaff February - 2016
Falstaff
Dark ruby red with violet reflections and a slightly watery rim. Delicate oak spice, fine nougat, ripe cherry, dark berry compote, subtle orange peel. Juicy, ripe plum, fresh structure, fine tannins, elegant and persistent, pronounced fruit finish, some nougat, already appears mature and easy to drink, has good aging potential.

Seductive nose of spices and pastry notes; juicy, dense yet easy to drink; robust, fresh tannin that ensures its maturity.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
2010 La Gaffeliere From an assemblage of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, with its deep ruby color, licorice, smoke, jammy dark berry and coffee aromas is a treat. Rich, polished, tannic, black and red fruits are found in the finish.

Tom Cannavan January - 2011

Svelte, rounded and ripe fruit, with a touch of chocolate and a touch of spice. The palate has a delicious smoothness and ripeness of fruit and tannins, and a chocolate-coated berry richness dominates the finish. Tannins really are well managed here, in a stylish, svelte wine.
