Expert's opinions

(6-2009) A fabulous example, the 1990 Troplong Mondot is only equaled by such recent vintages as 2000, 2005, and 2008. Tasted with the 1990 Pichon Longueville, this wine is an excellent representative of Right Bank Bordeaux, from a mature vintage. Generous in fruit, it displays a strong touch of iron and blood, typical of the region. Without excessive extraction, oak, or sweetness, it seems to have been made before the winemaking excesses of the following decade. Very balanced and (just) fresh, it becomes slightly mellow in the glass. Drink now!
