La Revue du Vin de France January - 2000
La Revue du Vin de France
This was one of the revelations of the vintage and enthusiasts who have it in their cellar will not be disappointed. Red fruit notes dominate, the whole displaying real aromatic freshness. Very distinguished, without being intensely concentrated, its balance is accomplished. But it is on its length in the finish that one measures the intensity of this wine.

Falstaff January - 2021
Falstaff
Strong ruby garnet, violet reflections, subtle brightening at the rim. Multi-faceted bouquet with notes of black berries, cassis and candied violets, underlaid with spicy nuances of cedarwood and incense. On the palate taut, medium-bodied and tightly woven, has fine dark fruit, freshly structured, present tannins, powerful finish, still appears very youthful, has many years ahead of it. Already noticeably more complex than in previous years thanks to improvements in the vineyard, but does not yet show the elegance and finesse that will arrive with the beginning of the next decade. A thoroughly robust Pauillac.

Tom Cannavan (01-2003) Quite a deep, inviting, coffee-bean and cocoa nose. The fruit is deep-set and concentrated. On the palate it is muscular, with plenty of bracing acidity, it is grippy and sinewy, with a serious seam of savoury black fruit. Long, juicy and well-balanced, this is very promising.

A hugely concentrated wine showing chewy, but ripe tannins. Smooth, polished fruit combines with well-balanced wood and suppressed power. This is certainly a wine that will develop well

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Among the finest Cantenac-Browns of the last three decades, the saturated purple-colored 2000 is a sleeper of the vintage. Loaded with chocolatey black currants intermixed with sweet earth, cedar, and spice box, it exhibits medium to full body, surprisingly ripe tannin for a wine from this estate, a multi-layered texture as well as mid-palate, and a finish that lasts 25-30 seconds.

Château Pontet Canet
Château Pontet Canet

Château Pontet Canet is a Bordeaux wine estate. The 80-hectare vineyard is located in the heart of the Pauillac appellation, not far from Château Mouton Rothschild. Château Pontet Canet is classified as a Fifth Growth in the 1855 classification.

The wines of Pontet-Canet have always been part of the Médoc legend. Deep ruby, purple, sometimes black, Pontet-Canet wine develops a characteristic nose where black fruits, especially blackcurrant, licorice, prune, notes of figs, cedar and sometimes cocoa blend together. On tasting, the wine combines power and elegance, density and amplitude. With a muscular character, it imposes a serene idea of classicism with this tannic structure that reveals a long and peaceful aging potential. The men of Pontet-Canet continuously pursue the work undertaken more than three centuries ago, bringing, in each era, the most advanced techniques with an eternal concern to improve the quality of the wine while respecting and expressing the purest expression of the terroir.

The wine of Pontet-Canet, as well as the second wine, Les Hauts de Pontet-Canet, are exclusively sold by the wine merchants of Bordeaux.
