Jean-Marc Quarin March - 1997
Jean-Marc Quarin
Deep red colour. Vivid. Intense. Beautiful. Nose of medium intensity. Complex. Fresh and fine. A soft and very fruity attack, developing on a tight, dense and complex structure, dominated by freshness. From the mid-palate onwards the wine becomes creamy, settling on the palate with a hint of violet and liquorice, finishing long, firm and yet rich. Good vanilla and fruity (cherry) persistence. Very good.

Powerful and ripe for the vintage. Lovely aromas of plums, berries and chocolate. Tannins are fine, finish is long and silky.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Dark ruby/purple-colored with Certan de May's tell-tale roasted peanut, herbal, black-cherry, curranty-scented nose, this wine is reminiscent of the fleshy, open-knit 1983. There is moderate tannin, but the wine is surprisingly forward, soft, and texturally appealing. However, readers must be willing to tolerate a strong herbaceousness to enjoy this 1994.

Château Certan De May
The Certan de May vineyard, one of the highest in the appellation, is adjacent to Petrus. The Certan de May vineyard is composed of old vines, with an average age of thirty years, planted on clay-gravel soil. Harvested late and thus benefiting from the full maturity of the grapes, this Pomerol proves to be of a very high standard. Its well-balanced, rich and complex wines combine woody and fruity aromas (cherries, blackcurrant,... ). The aging potential is impressive in great vintages.
