Jean-Marc Quarin
(9-2007) Tasted decanted. Dark and deep color. Moderately aromatic nose. Fine, very fresh, it presents notes of blackcurrant, cedar and a slightly metallic touch. The palate contrasts with the nose. The wine develops tender and finely pulpy, with a taste of cherry, blackcurrant and blackberries. The wine melts and presents the assets of the vintage and a regal tannicity. Finish evoking cedar. Delicious and unspittable wine.

(6-2010) A beautiful wine from Branaire, the 2000 is close to full maturity, and should offer plenty of pleasure over the next 15-20 years. Its deep ruby/purple hue is accompanied by scents of boysenberries, black currants, and spring flowers. This medium to full-bodied, pure St.-Julien hits the palate with authority, displaying silky tannins as well as wonderful richness, depth, and texture.

Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Fully mature, medium-bodied, energetic, floral, and fresh, the red fruits express a spicy nuance that meshes perfectly its currant, wet earth, cedar, and cigar box, elegant character. Drink from 2022-2035.

Château Branaire Ducru
Château Branaire Ducru

Château Branaire Ducru is a fourth growth classified (official 1855 Bordeaux wine classification) from the Saint-Julien appellation in Médoc. The vineyard covers nearly 60 hectares of vines. Château Branaire-Ducru is now one of the jewels of Saint Julien. It is highly sought after for its very pure red fruit. Its typical composition, mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, opens with bright aromas of raspberry and blackberry, before becoming more complex on the palate with delicate nuances of mineral, pencil lead, smoke and spring flowers... The Château also produces a second wine: Duluc de Branaire Ducru.

The best vintages of Château Branaire Ducru are 1975, 1982 grand cru wines, 1989, the 1995 vintage and the 1996 vintage. The wines from 2000, 2001, 2003 vintage and 2005 are also exceptional. Finally, the grand crus from 2009, 2010 vintage and the 2015 vintage are great vintages.
