Château Gilette is a wine estate in Bordeaux. A property of 4.5 hectares located in the heart of the village of Preignac. Château Gilette is a small Sauternes growth but legendary for its old vintages. In the Sauternes appellation, it exclusively produces sweet white wines described as being the fruitiest in the Sauternes region. The grape varieties harvested there are Sémillon (90%), Sauvignon Blanc (8%) and Muscadelle (2%). The harvest is done manually and the average age of the vines is about 40 years.
The best vintages of Château Gilette are 1929, the 1949 vintage, Château Gilette 1950, Gilette 1959, and also the 1987 vintage. Finally, the Château Gilette 1989 is particularly excellent.

The old vintages of Château Gilette benefit from a certain rarity. Indeed, Julie Gonet-Medeville only sells her wines after twenty years of aging. The yields of Château Gilette are extremely low, between 5 and 10 hl per hectare, and this nectar must be exceptional to deserve the appellation "crême de tête" and spend more than fifteen years in cement tanks before being bottled and sold a few years later.
