Deeply coloured though perhaps not as opaque as warmer climate Cabernets. No sign of bricking, still fairly purple. Good legs. Very attractive nose of good intensity. It speaks to me of primary fruit but with an exotic twist, perhaps a cherry liqueur? The palate exhibits plenty of fruit backed by good acidity and a little tannin, keeping it beautifully refreshing. There's something almost Italian about the red fruit/acid combination but it doesn't quite have the bitter chocolate edge. I don't really get the green edge that I typically expect with Cabernet Franc, this is rounder and somehow fatter, whilst at the same time not mimicking its sister Cabernet grape. It finishes pleasantly and there's not a huge amount of length. Overall, the wine seems beautifully assembled and balances all its components well. An exemplary effort from an indifferent vintage makes me think that this producer must make great wines in a good vintage. Had two more of these and both consistent with the first. Excellent. Had my last bottle January 2021. Again, excellent and showing a little more tertiary development with air. No rush if you have any of these.
