Expert's opinions
Earth, cigar box, roasted berries, fennel, smoke and mushroom scents create the perfume. The wine is developed and does not require additional aging. Medium/full bodied and polished in texture, the wine ends with sweet cherries.

Very pretty aromas of blackberry, currant and licorice. Full-bodied, with velvety, round tannins and lots of attractive vanilla and berry flavors. Long.

Here again, the two noses, decanted and non-decanted, are equivalent. They are fresh and very fruity. Delicate palate, taut, very fruity, of a ripe type, with a deep taste in the second part. Good length.

Deep garnet with smudgy rim. Lots of chocolate on the nose and some ripe dark fruit. Thick, firm tannins. Perhaps a little foursquare but neither overly dry nor overly ripe. Not much charm but has some future.

Château informations
The Clos du Marquis brand was created at the end of the 19th century by Théophile Skawinski, administrator of Château Las Cases and great-great-grandfather of the current administrator, Jean-Hubert Delon. For a long time, Clos du Marquis was the second wine of Léoville Las Cases. Since approximately the 1989 vintage, it has become another wine from Las Cases, mainly produced from the outer vineyards, as opposed to the grand Clos de Las Cases. Clos du Marquis is therefore the expression of a type of Saint-Julien terroir, surrounded by prestigious growths such as Pichon, Longueville, Comtesse de Lalande, Léoville Poyferre, Léoville Barton, Lagrange, and Talbot.
